Personal Statement

Alicia Portillo Vazquez is a Spanish photographer based in UK with a BA in Fashion Communication and MA of Fashion Photography. She has predominantly worked on fashion editorials

and documentaries style photo shoots. Portillo works mainly in digital medium but starting to approach the film medium.

The main subject for her work is based in the Spanish deep culture from the south where the artist is originally from, the traditions passed from mother to daughter and the matriarchy, and the memories from the summers over

there provide her inspiration to create a storytelling of her work. The relevance when creating work is to represent a personal moment in a fraction of time and make it captaining for the viewer in a fashion but also sensitive way.

As a aim, following her career as a fashion photographer, is to collaborate with agencies and brands where can connect fashion and culture in a wider level for bigger audiences can

appreciate the values of this main subject so relevant for the artist when comes to create visual work.

During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of her work.
